More about Innocent
I professed my love for Innocent Drinks a short while ago. Well, I didn't tell you then, but I also recieved a couple of Innocent books from one of their lovely staff in Denmark! (Hi Emma!) And I am so excited, especially about the big smoothie book. It's packed with smoothie recipes - and it has plenty of "genuine" recipes for smoothies that are actually produced and sold by Innocent. So, if you can't get them in the stores, you can make them yourself! Well, involving *quite* a bit more effort. :) My main obstacle is that I don't have a juicer. I'm thinking about buying one, but I'm a bit hesitant - first because I don't know where I'll keep it, they're pretty big. Second because I'm pretty sure that I want a fairly pricey one to be content with the performance, and that means I actually have to pay up. So, well, we'll see. Maybe. Or maybe not.
Anyway. The book has loads of recipes that you don't need a juicer for too, and it's fine to start with a base of bought apple or orange juice. It might not be as good, but hey, it's definitely more convenient. And there are fairly decent juices to be bought these days. So, if you're a smoothie fan - do check out this book. What I particularly like is that it's (almost) all fruit. Smoothies in Sweden usually include yogurt, and as I'm not a big yogurt fan, I'm glad Innocent sticks to fruit for their smoothies. (Calling their yogurt-based drinks for "thickies".)
The small book is a very cute one - stay healthy, be lazy. That pretty much sums it up. I passed it on to my friend Pia who is also a fan of Innocent - share the joy!

Thanks for the tip, Anne.
To return the favour: I bought this juicer a couple of weeks ago and it is *excellent*, and not as pricey as the high-end range.

Can you post where I can buy that recipe book? I tried to find it on their website, but i failed.
I would love to learn to make smoothies as good as Innocent's.
Stranger - that's the one I've been eyeing! It looks really good. But big. And well, a bit pricey, still :)
Vaire - you can find it in online bookstores, like Amazon. :)
Hi Ann, I love innocent smoothies too and am definitely going to be making some of your caramels this weekend, but I just wanted to tell you that because geese have proved so resistant to intensive farming methods, even if you buy them from the supermarket they will be pretty much free range, so go ahead and enjoy. Happy goose-feast weekend!
And thanks so much for the sweet book:)
Tasted one of their thickies in Amsterdam, and as much as I love their smoothies I thought this thickie was absolutely revolting with a very weird tang. Brr:(
The book sounds wonderful - we've been thinking of buying a juicer, too, and I miss the Innocent smoothies I enjoyed in Scotland for so many years!
I've bought a juicer about 2 years ago and I've never regretted it. Never before I'd consumed so many apples and carrots ... and the end it's much cheaper than buying all these ready made juices. Possibly there are more vitamins in there as well because the juice is much fresher? It's in use almost very day, especially in the winter months.
Yes, it is *very* big :). But if you juice as often as I have after I got it, you'll want to keep it out and in an easy to reach place.
My favourite is adding ginger, to almost any juice, as it's one of my favourite ingredients but just so hard to fit into an everyday diet. And it's a great way to eat my celery and beetroot, two vegetables I'm moderately fond of in their natural form (I promise, I'm not on Philips payroll).
Compared to a couple of years ago, where all the good juicers were the big brands of at least 2000 SEK, and the ones under a thousand just wouldn't do the job - the price is good I think. Perhaps a tip for loved ones for a x-mas present?
Best of luck!
please remind me of your address so i can send you some hats/bonnets for your innocent smoothie bottles! i bought some the other day, picture to follow on blog as soon as i get a mo!
