Feta Watermelon Skewers

Feta Watermelon Skewers

This is so simple it's not even a recipe. It is however a brilliant idea. Just dice watermelon and the best quality feta cheese you can find. Stick them together on cocktail skewers and place in the fridge until you're ready to eat. Ta-da! It's really a great flavor combination. Add some other things too if you feel like it - mint or basil leaves would work, as well as Kalamata olives.

I am from Greece and i have to say that this combinaton is very popular in Greece and it is my favourite dish for dinner during summer. You can also try to serve an alternative greek salad:cut melon and watermellon in small pieces, add olives ,some grapes, feta cheese and crumbled rye rusk (dakos)on top.

I would never have thought of these two together (but, then again, I have posted a recipe of watermelon in beer and orange juice). I am giving this a try!

I had this combo for the first time earlier this year and I'm hooked! It also makes an amazing salad with toasted seeds and a tangy dressing.

My friend makes a good watermelon and feta salad. It is a great combination! He adds pomegranate and drizzles it with balsamic vinegar.

This sounds interesting. I have heard about sprinkling salt onto watermelon and feta is a nice and salty cheese. I will have tor try this combo this summer.

Just the other day at dinner at a friend's house I had my first encounter with watermelon cubes topped with basil, fresh mozzarella and balsamic vinegar. It was 85 degrees F out and muggy. They were fabulously refreshing.

I'm sorry. I got that wrong. Just now looking at the picture I took of the evening it was watermelon topped with basil, balsamic vinegar and CHERRY TOMATOES.

I tried these for a party this weekend. Everyone enjoyed it a lot, but I bought too much. I found a watermelon salad on the food network website. It calls for watermelon cubes, feta cheese, onion, red wine vinegar, fresh mint, olive oil and a little bit of salt & pepper. It sounds awful but it was really good to use up the leftovers.

My husband loved the skewers and the salad! thanks!

Yep, these are amazing, but when I do them I add red onion and a squeeze of lime juice on the top. That just gives them...that little bit of egde :) Try it...you might like it :)
