Nigella Christmas

I somehow missed that both of my favorite cookbook authors just came out with new books: Jamie Oliver with Jamie's Ministry of food which promptly made the top of my christmas wishlist, and Nigella Lawson with Nigella Christmas which.. I had to order straight away. I love this - it's just as nice as all the other Nigella books (yes, I have the lot, I really like her writing) and I bet it'll be really useful for those with a busy christmas season. And for those of you who don't have that, really - I plan on making many of these things throughout the winter, it's definitely not "just" for christmas. Many of the recipes are suitable all year long. If you're a Nigella fan, this is a must. If you're not, well, then... get something else.

I got the book a few weeks ago and I ahd already tried two recipes: sticky gingerbread et parsleyed fish gratin. Both were a success!!

I ordered both books few weeks ago, too :)
I love the Nigella one - it's full of appealing recipes, but I HATE the fact that it's a lot bigger than all her previous books. I'd love to put it on the shelf next to the others, but it sticks out very badly :(

I am also looking forward for "Nigella Christmas" on BBC2 tonight. I'll definitely tape it!

I am in the USA and I see amazon is selling it for $150. Enjoy your books. Looks like I will need to pass on this one. What makes it so valuable?

Susan, that sounds ridiculous! I paid nowhere near that, it has a regular price. I have no idea what Amazon is up to...

Pille, I totally agree! Same format as before, please!!

And oh, I wish we had BBC2 here..

I must say that I'm a bit disappointed in the recipes in Nigellas Christmas. I guess it's because of my own expectations. But she's fabulous and gorgeous as always!

I'm watching Nigella's Christmas on BBC2 too; although I've heard the book has alot of 'repeat' recipes in it.
I have Ministry of Food and love it! It's a good everyday cookbook, that doesn't require you to source ingredients from the ends of the earth before cooking.

Waspgoddess - sadly, that only works in the UK :(

Em - good to hear! it's on my christmas list, so I hope Santa is bringing it :)

I got the book a few weeks ago too! I love curling up on the couch with a cup of tea and it. There are quite a few repeats if you do own many of her other books, but still worth it!

Oh, and I got it off Amazon.ca for only $32!

Hi another Susan in the US here. Re: Nigella's new book. I just looked at amazon.com (US) thinking, oh there must be some problem. Yes, it says $150! I sent an email to them saying/asking, essentially: WHAT???!!! It will be a while before anyone answers (if at all), I'm sure. Will post something if I hear from them. With the economic mess, a jewel-encrusted cover will not sell at that price. I really think there's something off--or they will lower the price. (For now, I'll stick to a few recipes from the Christmas chapter of "Domestic Goddess.")

Anyway, enjoying the blog so much, Anne. Have made a few of your traditional Swedish recipes & they've been a big, big hit. Also, the kittens are adorable & your photos are wonderful.

A merry ciao-meow to all!
