congratulations, Anne. You are their super-momma. They are gorgeous and really wonderful to look at. Thank you for posting these pictures. I was so looking forward to seeing them. Please write something about the birth and how it all happened.
Anna, it was actually one of the most nerve-wracking births we've had.. she was starting to get some small contractions on Monday, and we spent all day long on the couch. I slept there, and thought for sure they'd come on Tuesday. Nope, nothing. Except for a very cuddly Kelly who wouldn't let me leave her side. Tuesday night, she had some more contractions and then finally at 1.30 am, the first water broke. Normally, that means the kitten is well on its way, but Kelly didn't get any real contractions until 4 am, and then she was in hard labour for one hour. It was clear that she was in some pain, because she was whining and crying. Terrible to watch really, and all I could do was stroke her tummy. Then finally the first baby was born at 5 am, and the next one at 5.25. She took a small break, and I think the third one came at about 7.20, and the final one at 8.
We never leave our females to fix things themselves - many people think we fuss way too much, but there are so many things that can go wrong. I want to clean up a kitten really fast and make sure it hasn't swallowed any fluids (since that can lead to pneumonia) and also make sure that they're alert. I generally break the umbilical cord as well - cat moms are not very gentle, and it's not uncommon for them to bite in the wrong place.
Thank you for writing about the birth. How very interesting! I am glad everything went well. It seems like Kelly trusts you completely. Does she mind at all when you handle her babies? Or maybe she knows they are in good hands. I am very glad that you fuss over her and the babies, this makes for a more civilized world! You can tell a lot about a culture by the way they handle their animals. The general attitude! I mean in a very general sense, of course!

Åh, vad söta! Grattis!
Congratulations to Kelly!!! The kittens are super cute. Now I can't visit you during the next 12 weeks or I'll end up with another cat... :-)

Thanks everyone! :)
Sam, we're pretty sure it's two of each - a girl and a boy in each color :)
Dagmar - you'll have to resist :)
Karin, vi vet inte riktigt! Något på K, och det ska följa ett tema.. lutar åt Hawaiianska namn kanske?
Ooooh, they're lovely! Nothing beats a kitten when it comes to cuteness. Congrats!
