Avocado Tzatziki

avo-raitziki

Here's a slightly different summer sauce, perfect for a barbecue or a pic-nic. It's what would happen if a guacamole and a tzatziki had a baby! Well, sort of. You get the general idea.

You need:
-thick yogurt
-garlic
-grated cucumber
-finely diced or mashed up avocado
-fresh coriander
-salt
-pepper
-lemon
-honey

Give it a whirl! No point fussing with exact amounts here, just mix until you're happy.

Recipe in Swedish:
Tzatziki med avocado

Perfect timing. Just posted about a Greek themed BBQ I'm having this weekend. This will be a nice change from regular tzatziki.

Oh! I must try this. And the picture for the pine nut hummus in the previous blog looks so yummy... Would we be able to have a recipe for that one too?

Darn it! I guess I should have had breakfast first, before reading this blog. Mind you these sauces and dips look so good, I well have drooled on my keyboard anyway!

Yummy recipes Anne!

I can't wait to try your tzatziki variation with boil potatoes, scrambled eggs, and fresh cukes and tomatoes out of the garden....Summer classic!

By the way, have you ever considered turning your knowledge into income beyond all the limits of blogger.com?

It's what I do with my hobbies and know-how and it works beautifully for anyone, regardless of level of technical experience.

I'll keep checking back for more of your wonderful ideas. I hope you can see how wonderful my idea is too.

Ooo, that sounds fantastic! We'll have to give it a try soon! Did you serve it with chips? Pita bread? All of the above?

I wonder what should be the best drink before this or together with it? What do you recommend?
I am collecting receipts of drinks.

After spending 15 minutes looking at the photos and reading the recepies, I had to get up and get something to eat. Wish you were here! What I ate would not make the trash can beside your computer, let alone your page!

Mmmm, mmmm, mmmmmm.
Nice. Sounds like foggy summer day to me. White, with patches of color, and tasty for sure.
Thanks Anne!

Looks yummy! I like all the ingredients, so why not put them together. Did you know you are one of the blogger "blogs of note"?

Thanks everyone! :)

Johane - I'll definitely post the recipe for the pine nut hoummus as soon as the book comes out, if Lisa allows me :)

Kristi - we actually had it as a side rather than as a dip, with grilled meat. It would work wonders with pita chips though, what a great idea!

Jonne - oh, I suck at drinks.. but I bet that a margarita would work well!

Lanae - I do know, and I'm so excited about it! :)

Hi! I'm a pure veggie and very fond of anything to do with food. I am glad to find some veggie friendly recipes here. Wondering if I can use Fage for thick yogurt in this recipe?

Anne said...

Anushika - I have no idea what Fage is, so sorry, can't help there.. Any thick yogurt would do though, turkish or greek style. Look for something around 10% fat.
