Today is Wednesday, and the Swedish elections are on Sunday - just a few short days away. I don't normally write much about politics here, but I'll make an exception. See, politics is my job. I work, full time, for the Swedish liberal party - Folkpartiet. And in this election, I''m also a candidate. So - if any of you happen to live in Nacka, and you'd like to vote for me: I'm number 8 on the list. And if any of you who don't live in Nacka still would like to support me - a vote for Folkpartiet would be great!
It's been a hellish campaign season. We've had plenty of scandals in the press, plenty of dirty campaigning, and even some real dangers - yesterday, someone tried to blow up one of our campaign huts in Malmö! I'm sick again, bad cold, but it doesn't matter. It's almost over. And I hope that this time we'll manage to kick the socialist party out of government. The polls are very close, but it's looking somewhat hopeful.
And for those of you who don't care at all, that's fine, just ignore this post, and enjoy the food!

Rachael - oh, I've actually been in politics for over ten years, but this is the first time I'm actually running for anything. And as for what, without going into our political system, it's basically local parliament. Local, as in for Nacka, my town, a suburb to Stockholm. :) It's run by a parliament of 61, and I'm hoping to be one of those for the next four years to come.
Good luck, Anne. The US elections are coming up in November and we are supporting several of the liberal (Democrat) candidates for our State House and Senate plus US Congress. Is it as expensive to run for office in Sweden as it is in the US?
Thanks Bean! No, it's not at all expensive here. You have to be active in a party in order to get somewhere, and it will take a lot of time and effort, but virtually no money. It's not personal elections in the same way here - you vote for party lists, rather than candidates. I'm strongly thinking of booking a trip for the US presidential elections next time - I'm hoping for another Pres. Clinton. :)
I have my priorities worked out, essentially to the right, but then I came down with chronic illness and nothing was as I thought it would be anymore. I object to (m)s notion which seems to be the lower disability is, the healthier people will be. Nyamkos suggestion about teenage girls put me off as did the computer scandal or whatever it was and I quickly change the channel whenever Framtidens nyheter is on. Long story short, still haven't decided what to vote for.
Anyway, what I came for was because Lisa (matälskaren) suggested you might be interested in Oliver, timjan och kärlek. If you want it you can have it since I need to weed out my book case. if you don't, well, that's fine too :). good luck sunday :). Don't live in Nacka, don't know anyone who does either. Move to Västmanland and I would consider it :).

(And I *so* agree with you on Nyamko's suggestion, and the terrible "spy-scandal" - it's quite horrible, and definitely not something I stand for.)

God luck for the election on sunday. In germany we have two voices to elect the "Bundestag", the first one is personal (a candidate) and the second voice is for a party.

Good luck for Sunday! What is the main platform difference between your party and that of the Socialists? I'm not familiar with Swedish politics at all - sorry. It's great that you're active and involved. I hope to represent my country in a diplomatic capacity once I graduate.

Shaun, very cool choice of career. Well, the differences are monumental - at least for Swedish politics. I won't go into them, as it's right in the elections, we don't agree on a single point. :)
The biggest difference is in ideology though - liberalism is what fuels my engagement.
Hi Anne, good luck to you. Personally I pay no attention to politics, grammar and to whatever people may think of me. I like food and that's about it. Cats are OK but I am fine without them too!
