Shoestring potatoes

shoestringpotatoes

I recently bought a Benriner Turning Slicer - a pretty cool little gizmo (that I have to take some action shots of) which allowed me to make these yummy shoestring potatoes! Delicious! We just ate them plain, but a friend recommended tossing them with chili and fresh cilantro, and a few drops of sesame oil. Any more ideas? I think we'll be making these a lot this summer...

these are really popular with the traditional viennese dish of tafelspitz... i always think they're such a mess to make, despite my mandoline, but every once in a while... ah! the crunch!
titus looks gorgeous, by the way... such a lovely baby!

Mae Ploy sauce! It's a hot/sweet pepper sauce, used in Thai cuisine. That and a few green onions ... delicious!

Yum -- these could be great all sorts of ways. I love the chile idea. A splash of chile and lime makes everything pop, if you ask me. I'd also opt for some malt vinegar... or maybe a sprinkling of cinnamon & sugar...why not??
