New food mag: Jamie

jamie-mag-1

I was pretty excited to see a new food mag on the shelves - Jamie. Seems Jamie Oliver has expanded his ever-growing empire to include a magazine! And first impression..? Well, a bit so-so I'm sorry to say. For me, it didn't hold a whole lot of inspiration, but then again I already have all of Jamie's books and am fairly jaded by food magazines in general. It seems to have an awful lot of plugging for his own series of china, or spices. I'll give this a few more issues before deciding, though. Has anyone else read it? What did you think?

I think that this magazine is not even so-so, it is simply not worth it. I agree with you on the plugging for his own series of china, it looked to me like a big advertise, and though the photos are lovely, I dislike buying a magazine that looks like a huge commercial. Like you, I have most of his books, and I seriously think that the books are just enough. (Oh, and one more thing- my magazine was full of really big ink spots, just lovely! )

I was given a copy of the magazine as a gift and wasn't impressed at all. Lots of lovely pictures, but that was about it. It did feel like one giant advert.

I completely agree - and even if it is a big advert one would think that there would be the possibility of some good texts or something authentic from the chef himself. Too bad.

I was planning on blogging on this as well, but I totally forgot :-) However I agree, the magazine is so-so. HAve you heard that Swedish Leila is starting her own magazine as well?

Glad to hear it's not just me then! :)

Dagmar - I hadn't... but I can't say I have very high expectations :)

*lol* They should stick to their books instead.

he he.

i saw his mag on the shelves of jamie's italian, a branch of which has opened at walking distance from my house... the food there was a bit hit and miss, which seems to be reflected in the magazine... gorgeouse home-made pasta, however, so next time you come, we'll go there together, right? baby will love it, too!
