Ok, ready? There was a LOT of food... everyone was instructed to bring something that they felt was American. So, like it or not, this is what most Swedes think of as the quintessential American food.

For drinks, lots of beer, Kool-Aid, Jack Daniels, Cherry Coke, Mountain Dew, & Coca-Cola.
Full yet? This was my very overstuffed plate. And I'm still full.

What a spread! No one seems to have brought any of those jelly salads that I think are weird but seem to be so American...

Pretty much looks like typical American food to me. Just missing some hot dogs and apple pie. Did Per eat any of the molded Jello?
Wow. The Swedes crack me up vintage American Cars and food. You guys put on a better spread than what I see in my own back yard! You nailed it.

hahaha, I love it! This looks very vintage American and like everything I grew up on. Unfortunatly or fortunatly we don't see many of the jello salads these days and FORTUNATLY there seem to be better beers at our fourth of July parites these days...more "European" ;)

I know, I know - kool-aid is a bit special to say the least. Some flavors are nice, some are.. not so nice. Opinions definitely differed on that the other night - some liked grape a lot, others preferred tropical punch, but everyone definitely had an opinion!

That was so odd, looking down the row at "American" food. The hamburgers were a bit odd, but cute. Everything else seemed spot on, though I've never seen mac and cheese on the 4th of July. Kool-aid is indeed liked by many, though I never make it. At my house we had hot dogs that we roasted over a fire, potato salad, cole slaw, and baked beans, potato chips, corn chips, salsa and guacamole, as well as watermelon and cherries, and brownies, and s'mores, and strawberry short cake.
First time on your blog and i am already thinking of breaking my diet and devouring some of that kind of food!!
I like the tropical punch kool-aid made with 1/2 the sugar and the juice of a lemon squeezed in (then drop the lemon in the pitcher).
Still, perhaps I like kool-aid because my mom wouldn't hear of having it in the house when I was little!
