Microwaved carrots

carrots

You need carrots, some salt, a little bit of butter, a bowl, and plastic wrap.

Slice the carrots thinly, and put them in a bowl with a little bit of salt. Cover with plastic foil - twice if your foil is thin. This has to be tight!

Microwave for 3-4 minutes (that's for about 2 carrots which is what I used), remove the plastic wrap (but be careful, it will steam!) and add a tiny bit of butter. Delicious!

Interesting! Another unusual snack is jackfruit chips which I recently tasted.

A great way to make a quick side dish!

This may be a dumb question, but how do you get your carrot slices so thin?!?

Maybe it would be too cautious, but you might avoid using plastic film. Some plastics give off noxious chemicals in a microwave, particularly plastic containers.

Instead put the carrots in a microwave-safe bowl covered by a dish.

Ann-Lou - interesting! I've never tried jackfruit.

Deborah - it really is :)

Sherri - I use a mandolin to slice them, it's much quicker and more precise than using a knife. At least it is for me :)

Gary - good point. I tried making this in a tupperware (microwave safe) container, and that didn't work very well at all. I guess it needs to be tight, but with some room to breathe. I'd make sure to use food safe plastic though, but I'll try it with just a dish to cover. It'd be more convenient, definitely.
