My new stove - I won it!

This blogging on the fly business is not so easy here in Dalarna. We have a laptop (which is literally in my lap now as I'm sitting on a very cold bench in central Mora) but our cabin is a blind spot as far as cell phone coverage and we're far from any networks. But well, I should manage a short update and show you my lovely new stove! And oven. It's a brand new Electrolux, and what's really cool is that I won it. In a recipe contest. How cool is *that*? I won with one of my favorite recipes - Beet Risotto with Fava Beans. Go check it out - and I'll be back soon, I promise.

And a note for all you Swedes - today is Cinnamon Bun Day! Go eat one, right now. At least that's what I'm planning to do.

That IS cool. I might need a new one after I finish my current baking project: carrot cake for 300 people! (It's for a wedding on Oct. 15.)

Hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Dalarna! (And enjoy a Cinnamon Bun for me, too!)

Hej. Din engelska är perfekt. Snälla kan du inte läsa min blogg? Jag känner mig smått utanför i bloggvärlden.

Very cool indeed, Anne! Congrats, and I will give your beetroot risotto a try - must be worth it:)

I got a newly baked cinnamon bun when I arrived at work, perfect way to start a day :).
And congrats on the stove :).

What I want to know is how you ended up with a cinnamon bun day and why don't we have a cinnamon bun day in Vancouver?!

Congratulations! So do you prefer electric over gas ranges? And I have to say, the Swedes have the best national days. I knew about waffle day, and pancake day, but cinnamon bun day?! I'm from California, but I think I'll pretend to be Swedish today and bake a batch of buns for dinner...

Wonderful! It couldn't happen to a better cook or cat mommy ;-)

Thanks everyone!!

Pam - wow, I'm so not envious :) But I bet you'll feel proud!!

Krakel - klart jag tittar in :)

Pille, yes, you have to now ;)

Jessica - oh, that sounds like a nice workplace!

Anna - I have no idea, but I'm guessing it's the Swedish baker's union or something like that that came up with it :)

Gustad, good question! I haven't actually put it to use yet. It does have a convection oven, I know that much. And a really big glass door. And several cool features, like railings that slide out. Huh. I have a lot of playing to do!

Anonymous, gas isn't really an option here for most people. Very, very, very few houses have gas - some apartment buildings do, and some old houses, but it's mostly all electricity. I prefer actual cooking on a gas stove if I had a choice, but I'm also a bit scared of it, and I prefer an electrical oven :)
