Noodle Stir-fry

Here's a fast and tasty variation with noodles. I don't use my wok very often, but it works perfectly for this recipe. If you don't have a wok, use a large skillet - that will be allright too!

Noodle Stir-Fry
serves 2

100 g egg noodles
1 tbsp sesame oil
200 g thinly sliced beef, in strips
2 cloves of garlic, sliced
1 red chili, finely chopped
1 carrot, julienned
150 g green beans, blanched in boiling water for a minute (or given 30 sec in the microwave, if you use frozen ones like I did)

For the dressing:
the juice of a lime
1-2 tbsp fish sauce
1-2 tsp honey
1 tsp chili paste (sambal oelek)

Boil the noodles according to the packaging, and rinse them in cold water. Set aside. Heat the sesame oil in a wok or a large skillet, and fry the beef and all the veggies. Add the noodles.

Mix the dressing, and adjust seasoning (lime makes it tarter, fish sauce saltier, honey sweeter (obviously!) and sambal oelek makes it hotter) according to taste. Pour over the stir fry and let it sink in for a minute. Serve!

Hiya. What wonderful recipes you have. Sorry to bug you in your journal, but I came to your blog through Google when searching "Davinci syrups" and "Sweden." I notice that you used some Davinci syrup in a recipe, so I was wondering if you might share with me where you found it? I've been looking all over Sweden trying to find their syrups. Thanks so much.

Layla, no problems at all! It's not very easy to find, as you have noticed. I find the biggest selection to be at Martin Olsson, the outlet for restaurants. They have a lot - although just one sugar free. (Sigh.) You need to have a special card to shop there - if you don't, let me know if I can pick something up for you.

Also, the English Shop in Söderhallarna in Stockholm has some if I recall correctly - or perhaps it was only Monin syrups...
