Cardamon Buns - a very guilty pleasure

This is an embarrassing post to write, but it has to be done. I have many guilty pleasures - but I rarely feel that guilty about them. After all, life is about pleasure. Right?

Anyway. What you see in this picture is one of the most perfect cardamon buns ever baked. It comes, surprisingly, from a supermarket bakery. Ica Maxi in Nacka is where it's at - I don't know if all Ica Maxi's have the same delicious stuff, but I don't think so. It's perfect, really. I like my buns soft and pillowy, and with plenty of flavor. See how it's dipped in cardamon?! Ah, it's just amazing.

I really had to struggle to take this picture. See, this was the one bun that made it home. The rest - I bought three (you get a discount - didn't even make it out of the car. Yes, I scarfed them down almost before leaving the parking lot. In my defense, I had just finished a BodyPump class, and was exhausted and starving. But I've done this before, without such a good excuse.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's such a glutton at times. Or am I? (Please, reassure me here.)

Gluttony is my favourite sin. My weight is happy that there are no Krispy Kreme in Sweden. I have a thing for donuts...

PS. Have you checked my new chile blog Chilepepper and spice yet?

Hi Anne, don't worry, we have a saying in Austria, it's about money, but you can change it to "There will be more BUNS but we won't be any more there" ... so JUST TAKE THEM and never feel guilty. Best regards from "the flying apple" angelika

I do it all the time as well :-)

But there sure is something with those Ica buns. Before we moved we lived just beside a small Ica store and they had lovely and perfect cinnamon buns that they baked in the store. They didn't look as beautiful as on your photo but they were delicous and surely the best ones that I've ever had.

I haven't ever tried something like that but it looks so very good!

Oh, I'm happy to hear it's not just me then :) Joe - you should try some, they're so yummy! I think you could just follow directions for cinnamon buns, but substitute cardamom. And these are then dipped in cardamom sugar - ahhh.. I'm getting hungry again just writing this!

Don't worry, my boyfriend and I finished a whole peking duck once...after our mixed appetizer plate...and with some chinese fried rice. They had to roll us out of there! :-)

after my body pump session yesterday, my buddy/instructor led me astray and I wish it was for cardamom buns... but no, her personal training victim rescheduled so she convinced me to go out for sushi & seaweed salad (me) bento box (her)... and coincidentally she revealed she spent her 15th summer in Sweden, gaining 20 pound in 3 months on ice cream!!!!

Ok, you've taunted me with your picture, now I need a recipe for these things! Or at least, does anyone know if I can buy these somewhere in Norway?

Andrew - I'm so sorry. I don't have a trusty recipe - I really need to work on one though! :)
