Absolutely brilliant to accompany any grilled dishes - perfect for a summery feast. It looks like something that should be served for dessert, but the combination of savory flavors with the sweet berries is just amazing. Do try!
Strawberry Salsa
500 g strawberries
juice of half a lemon (or one lime)
2-3 tbsp finely chopped parsley
2 spring onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp neutral oil
2 tbsp brown sugar
salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper
Cut the strawberries into small pieces. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, and place in the fridge for at least one hour to let the flavors combine.
Sommarsås
Oooo! YES, I think so. Wonder how that would some simple grilled veggies or chicken. I must try. I almost always find sweet and savory beautiful. Neat idea at the right season! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI could really imagine this on grilled chicken, as tanna said. What did you use it for?
ReplyDeleteVery interesting...very! Sounds intriguing, also a very good idea.ç Worth trying. Thanks Anne...
ReplyDeleteThis sounds great.
ReplyDeleteI make a fruit salsa using watermelon, canteloupe, honeydew, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and cilantro - all chopped very fine. We dip with lime flavored tortilla chips. It's a big hit in the summer!
Nerissa - we had grilled pork chops, and grilled sausages, and that seemed to work well.
ReplyDeleteTNP - thank you, that sounds delicous!! We don't have lime flavored tortilla chips - at least I don't think so - but I'll try the salsa when melon comes in season!!
Anne,
ReplyDeleteI'm grilling pork tenderloins for a party next Sunday and with it I was planning on serving an apple curry sauce, but I was wanting to serve another sauce as well -- I think I've found that other sauce. Thanks!
Perfect time of the year for this! Stunning!
ReplyDeleteActually I think this might be really nice with a piece of grilled salmon too. Will definitely being trying this.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
ReplyDeleteI ended up serving the salsa with grilled pork at one of my classes. It was a tremendous hit!
