Christmas Market at Skansen

SAM_0238

If you're in Stockholm in December, I heartily recommend going to the Christmas market at Skansen. Skansen is an outdoor museum and zoo - and it's always worth a visit.

SAM_0240
Lots of different kinds of crisp bread. (To make your own, check out my recipes here and here.)

SAM_0241
There's a lot to eat at the market. This stall served...

SAM_0242
...elk! "A taste of Scandinavian wilderness", as they called it. It's a great-tasting meat, actually!

SAM_0243
Sugared almonds. Always, always found at christmas markets, and I always buy them.

SAM_0245
This stall sold different sorts of christmas-y drinks.

SAM_0246
Skansen is gorgeous all year round, and it has old houses from different parts of Sweden.

One of few animals we met on this cold winter day.

It is in the 60s in Texas so these pictures helped get me in the Christmas spirit. Those sugared almonds look delicious!

Looks absolutely beautiful. My great-grandparents emigrated from Sweden to the U.S. I love to see the pictures as they help me feel more connected to my heritage. Now the sugared almonds my mother often made at Christmas make sense. Thank you, Anne!

Merry Christmas Anne. I love the picture of the market and museum, those buildings look so lovely. Really looks like a Christmas should be. We are mild today on Christmas eve and dry, but rain to come tomorrow. Have had a lovely week though ...nice and mild and lovely sunshine ...in mid 50's F.
I will enjoy another year reading you here. Much Love from Oregon
